There is no interest in the Planetary Defense ...of Earth.
For the last several years, I have been seeding LinkedIn -- my general comment and discussion arena ... with EOisDead and EM or Earth_Monitoring .... Similarly with #TIRI, #FIRI, WatIRI, ElevIRI, etc., our analytics outputs ... and RiskReduction_Monitoring or #RRM (that will take you back to posts of up to 1 year) ... WHY?
In 2007/8 as Ground Radar systems began to grow in number and installations -- we (well, some of us) in the tech/support/and practitioner space realized that this level of serial data (every 10, 5, 3, minutes .. now ~90 seconds) provided this dense and many indicators of operational "state". The initial safety device (Groundprobes SSR) would become a critical operational and production assurance tool) We saw on screen and first hand -- spending 15 years in the field with these tools, in situ instruments, and the addition of Satellite InSAR -an earth that was literally changing, or being changed before our eyes.
We built the monitoring practice, reports, and data outcomes where none existed before -- at a detail of .1 mm over 5 KM! A user could see rockfall mesh expand and contract across landslide slopes, a mine's highwall expand due to an influx of water upslope and off property ... years and seasonal differentials affecting critical corridors, and precursors to events like Cadia, Mt Polley, Samarco, Brumadinho, Mud Creek, Niscemi -- right out here available to be addressed, mitigations created, lives to be saved -- IF SERIAL DIFFERENTIAL MONITORING - Earth_Monitoring, were the standard! ...And it creates recurring income and tertiary activities.
Where we did it.. since 2006, we were successful. Where budget or doubt or fear was present .. the best intentions never happened, or were suddenly turned off ... unfortunate events transpired....
